Where is the jewellery made?

The jewellery is made in the UK

Who designs the jewellery?

All designs are by Annika Burman and protected by the NAJ Copywatch Design Deposit Scheme.

Can I visit somewhere to try on the pieces? 

The majority of the collections available from annikaburman.com are also on display at the JeDeCo gallery in the Oxo Tower  on the Southbank of London. Click here for map. If you want to view a specific piece, then please email us first to make sure what you are looking for is on display.

Is Annika Burman a member of any trade organisation? 

Annika Burman is a member of NAJ -  The National Association of Jewellers and is also a founding member of JeDeCo - Jewellery Designers' Collective - which is a collectively run jewellery gallery based in the iconic Oxo Tower on London's Southbank, where all members trade independently under the JeDeCo banner.

MATERIALS

Is the jewellery made from precious metals?

All metal components are made from either 925 Sterling silver or from gold.

What carat is the gold?

We are using 18ct gold. Should there be an expection, then it will be clearly stated in the product description.

What is vermeil?

Vermail is a thicker plating of gold on silver where the silver must be sterling, the gold no less than 10ct, and the thickness of plating a minimum of 2.5 microns. We use 3 microns of 18ct gold, plated on sterling silver. 

What is rhodium?

Rhodium is a bright white metal from the platinum family which is oftern used to plate white gold or silver. It adds brightness to white gold and protects silver from tarnishing.

There is also black rhodium, which provide a dark gunmetal grey/black solid finish.

I would like my silver piece oxidised/blackened, can you do it?

Yes, we can! It will be done free of charge, but the piece will have to return to the workshop for a couple of days before it is despatched to you. All oxidised jewellery will brighten with time and wear away the oxidisation of the exposed areas. How much and how fast will depend on how it is handled, but also on the design, pattern, or texture of the piece.

We can also black rhodium plate* a piece of jewellery for you. This would involve an added cost. Please contact us for a quote.

What is a cabochon?

A smooth cut, non facetted, gemstone

Are the pearls real?

Yes, we only use real pearls. We use freshwater pearls unless otherwise stated.

Are the items hallmarked?

Annika Burman is registered with The Assay Office in London. Per requirement all gold items and all sterling silver pieces weighting more than 7.78g are hallmarked. In addition to the metal fineness mark there is the Makers Mark which identifies the maker - AB in our case - and the leopard's head, which is the official mark of London Goldsmith's Company Assay Office.

 

ORDERING

Which payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit and debit cards from Visa, Amex and Mastercard, and we also accept payment via PayPal. In case of commissions we can also accept bank transfers by prior arrangement.

How do I use a discount code or a gift voucher?

You just add the code at checkout.

Do you offer gift packaging?

All our jewellery is sent in our gift boxes within EU. When shipped outside the customs union we provide gift packaging, but separately. We do this to allow for easy access at custom inspections, so that your order will arrive as smoothly and quickly as possible.

How do I pay for a custom order/commission?

In most cases* a custom made invoice will be created for you with a link to pay via our website, where you have the option to pay with credit card or PayPal.Should you prefer to pay by bank transfer, then that can usually be arranged.

* An exception might be for a minor change to a stock item where the price remains the same and we agree and confirm the change/s via email beforehand. In these cases you can order the item directly from the website.

Can I order an out of stock item?

Usually, yes! You will just have wait for us to make it for you. Usually you will find information about the lead time in the description, but any queries you have, please just contact us here.  

GIFT VOUCHERS

Where can I buy a gift voucher?

Online only from annikaburman.com

Where can I redeem a gift voucher?

Online only. If can be used to purchase a commissioned piece, or a piece on display at the JeDeCo gallery, but which is not available on the website. We would then create a custom order and email you the link to pay. You could still collect from JeDeCo, but in all cases the payment must be done via the website.

How do I redeem a gift voucher?

You simply add the code at checkout.

Can I get change from a gift voucher?

No, I am sorry, but that is not possible.

SIZING

How do I find my ring size?

You can check for your size here. Please note that we follow the UK sizing system. I advise you to be sure of your size before ordering as you will be charged a fee for re-sizing a ring after purchase. It is also not always possible to resize a ring due to gemstones or pattern/detailing etc.

My ring size is not available on the website, what do I do?

Most rings can be made to order in your size, please inquire here If you want to order an open ring, then please let us know your size beforehand so we can be sure it fits perfectly on arrival. 

CUSTOM ORDERS

What is considered a 'custom order'?

Any item which differ from our standard range and has been altered at the customer's request,or any commissioned piece made to a customer's specification.

How do I go about if I want to make a custom order?

The firs step is to email us to let us know what you are looking for. 

How do I pay for my custom order?

A custom invoice will be raised for you, with a link to payment.

How long will a custom order take?

It varies a lot and can take from 4-5 days for a different chain for a pendant, to up to 8 weeks, or more, from approval of design, for a larger piece not part of our range. Please note that during busy times (December) and our holiday period (late July - August) lead times tend to be longer.

Can I return a custom order?

No. A piece made to your specifications cannot be returned. 

SHIPPING/DELIVERY

Do you offer free delivery?

Yes, we offer free delivery in the UK

Who do you use for shipping?

Within the UK we use Royal Mail's Special Delivery, or Signed For service for less expensive items, such as small silver studs.

Internationally we use a combination of Royal Mail and Fedex. Read more here.

How long will my order take to arrive?

We aim to ship it within 3 days and most items sent within the UK arrive the next day. Allow 3-5 days for Europe and at least 5-7 days for 'rest of the world'. Where Fedex is used your item will usually arrive within 2 days from shipping.

Please note that we will not ship until the payment has cleared.

Do I have to sign for my package?

Yes, you do. All packages require a signature on arrival.

Is my order trackable?

Yes. We wll provide you with the tracking code. Royal Mail's Signed For service is sometimes used for UK orders of a lower value and will provide proof of receipt by signature only,

Do you offer same day delivery?

A selection of items from Annika Burman are available through Urbit. They are an environmentally-friendly personal delivery service, and cover central London. Urbit can deliver the same day to a venue of your choice, including places like your office or a restaurant  You must then order directly through the Urbit app. Please click here for Urbit

Can I collect my order?

Yes. Place your order, then choose Collection From JeDeCo. You will need to enter the delivery details JeDeCo, Oxo Tower, London and post code SE1 9PH (you will find instructions at check out). We will confirm by email when the item is ready for collection. Please bring your invoice as proof of order.

I live abroad but visiting London soon. Can I order now and collect in London?

Yes. Place your order and choose UK as delivery country, followed by Collection From JeDeCo. You will need to enter the delivery details JeDeCo, Oxo Tower, London and post code SE1 9PH (you will find instructions at check out). We will confirm by email when the item is ready for collection. Please bring your invoice as proof of order. 

I live abroad but a friend is coming to London, can he/she collect my order?

Yes. Place your order and choose UK as delivery country, followed by Collection From JeDeCo. You will need to enter the delivery details JeDeCo, Oxo Tower, London and post code SE1 9PH (you will find instructions at check out). We will confirm by email when the item is ready for collection. Please make sure your friend have a copy of your invoice as proof of your order

Why don't you ship to where I live? 

It is not possible to ship jewellery to all countries, either because it is high risk that the item will not arrive or because the country in question have restricitons on jewellery entering the country from abroad.

Why don't you ship to Switzerland or Iceland?

Neither country allow of jewellery from abroad entering the country.

Why is courier the only option for delivery in Sweden when it is not in other EU countries?

It is due to Swedish legislation where jewellery cannot enter the country from abroad via it's postal system. Delivery to Sweden is therefore only available by courier.

RETURNS

I have changed my mind, can I make an exchange or return my order?

In accordance with the law on online shopping, you have the right to return an item within two weeks of you receiving your order. You must contact us as soon as possible (and within the 2 week window) for instructions.The item must be unworn and undamaged and all packaging must be included with the returned item. You are responsible for the return postage and for the items arriving undamaged to us. We recommend that you return it using a trackable service, alternatively return it in person to JeDeCo.

Once the item has been checked and cleared the refund will be issued. Allow for 5 working days before the money is in your account.

WARRANTY & REPAIRS

My item has a fault, what do I do?

We do strict quality checks, but in the unlikely event that your jewellery has a manufacturing fault, then please contact us as soon as possible. Any damage not caused by misuse will be repaired free of charge within 6 months from date of purchase. We do of course want you to be happy with your purchase and the jewellery to be worn!

Repairs required more than 6 months after purchase will be charged for, starting from £10 for items collected from JeDeCo and from £15 for items requiring return postage within UK (POA for international delivery). We would need images and description of the damage to be able to provide you with an exact cost of the repair.

In all cases the customer is responsible for returning jewellery to us, by mail, courier, or by taking it in person to JeDeCo.

Please note that no one at JeDeCo - with the exception of myself - will comment, discuss, quote a price or make a refund for a piece of jewellery bought online. They are only responsible for receiving and hold the piece securely on behalf of Annika Burman Jewellery

CARE

How do I care for my jewellery?

Handle your jewellery with care. It is always advisable to store all items separately.

Gold vermail (plated) items should last a long time without re-plating providing care is taken. Vermeil jewellery should not come into contact with chemical products such as perfume, detergents or lotions, neither should you immerse your jewellery in water, especially not sea/salt or chlorinated water.

Wear and store all stones and beads with the same care. Pearls are especially delicate and might get scratched or lose their lustre if not handled with care.

Up to max 14 newsletters per year, and we only issue each newsletter once.

What happens to the personal information that I enter?

In accordance with the law we will of course not forward your information to other parties other than in ways which are absolutely necessary in order to process and fullfill your order.
